Dr. Maria Montessori believes that education’s foremost objective is to develop
the child into a confident and healthy human adult.
The child needs to interact with the environment and experience for himself the
effect in the relation with the cause for his faculties/brain cells to mature. The
adult needs to understand that just a mango seed cannot grow into a rose bush, the
child will grow with its own inherent genes. Just as the plant grows at its natural
pace and stage the child’s growth is inexorable. At this age the care-giver can
only be an assistant and aid the psychic development. Rather the care-giver must
create opportunities and encourage and manage safety.
